How to Watch Sky TV Go on FireStick [Kodi App & Addon] (2023)

You've probably heard of Sky TV, the streaming television service that offers a wide range of entertainment, including blockbuster movies and sports. But watching Sky TV on Amazon FireStick and Fire TV can be challenging.

There are two ways to do this, and we'll cover both of them in this article.

While Sky Go is technically a desktop app, it is compatible with other platforms such as Android, Mac and even some smart TVs.

But many people are wondering if they can also use this program on their Amazon FireStick.

The short answer is yes, but there are additional steps that can make the process of using the Sky Go app on FireStick a bit complex.

With an offering as strong as Sky TV, it's easy to expect Sky Go to deliver not just solid content, but significant benefits and features. Not only does this app offer live content, but it also offers a variety of on-demand options for you to try out.

If you have a lot of programs and channels to choose from, don't worry because you can record up to six programs while watching another one. And with the recent updates to its features, all your shows will have crisp and clear quality.

While having access to so much content is an obvious benefit, going through your options through the app can be overwhelming. However, with hubs and tips, Sky makes navigating the massive amount of content as easy as possible. Even if you are using the Sky Go app on FireStick, the interface is the same, so the transition is seamless.

How to Install Sky Go App on FireStick

Unfortunately, there is no official Sky Go app for the Amazon FireStick. Is there a way to do thisDownload the app to your device, which I will discuss in the next section.

But even if you install it successfully, most users will encounter an error and the Sky Go app will not run on FireStick. It's the same with challengesSpectrum Clients with FireSticks.

Because of this, I recommend skipping over to the Sky Go Kodi Addons section and using this method. This method seems to work perfectly for most users.

I'm including the normal installation method in case you want to try it out.

Step 1 - Enable apps from unknown sources

If you haven't already, the first step to downloading an app on your Amazon FireStick or Fire TV is to enable apps from unknown sources.

By default, Amazon only allows you to install apps from its App Store.

All major app stores like Amazon, Google and Apple do this, apparently for security reasons. However, they also get a share of the profit that the developers make from selling the app, so it's in their best interest to drive traffic to their own app stores.

To start,Click on the Settings iconon the right side of the home screen menu.

Then click onmy fire tvSymbol.

then clickdeveloper options.

Here you will see two settings: AB Debugging and Apps from Unknown Sources. Both are used by developers to test their apps before making them available on the Amazon App Store.

Enable apps from unknown sources.

A warning screen will appear stating that any app that hasn't been verified directly by Amazon is risky.

When installing an app, always make sure you trust the app's developers. You grant them access to your device and all files stored on it.

Step 2: Install Sky Go app using downloader

As there is no official Sky Go app for Amazon FireStick or Fire TV, we will use the Downloader app to download the APK file.

On the Applications tabClick on downloader icon.

Once you're on the home screen, click on the box in the middle that says "Enter a URL or search term.“

Here you can enter a specific web URL if you know it, or enter a keyword to search on Google.

In my experience, APKMirror is the best place to look for an APK file.

Type in the field "Sky Go APK Mirror', or click this link to go directly there.

as soon as youclick go, the Browser tab opens. Google search results will appear immediately afterwards.

Depending on the popularity of the APK file, there may be too many search listings to filter through. Click on the APKMirror.com entry and it will take you to the page you see in the image below.

Scroll down to the All Versions section. In general, I always recommend using the latest version of the app. The version number may be different than shown below, but that's okay.

Click on the latest version.

This will take you to a screen with more information about that specific file. Here you can see the version number and which operating system you need to run it.

Click the blue download arrow on the right side of the screen to continue.

Finally, scroll down to the blueDownload APKI like.

Click on it to start the download process.

A file progress button will appear. Once the download is complete, Downloader will automatically start the installation process.

Follow the steps in the window to install the Sky Go app.

Once this is done, a pop-up window will appear in the lower right corner of the screen informing you that the application is ready to be launched.

Common Problems: Sky Go Error 20190005

Most FireStick users have encountered error code 20190005 when running the Sky Go app.

After launching the application from the Applications panel or My Fire TV settings menu, an expanded screen will appear with the following message:

There was a problem starting the application. Error [-20190005]. Restart the app and try again.

Unfortunately Sky Go users have been experiencing this for several years now and there is no solution.

Sky TV didn't tell us exactly what the error means,only the app is not compatible with Fire TV. On the XDA developer forumsSome users went into great detail, and explains his attempts to make the app work.

These included "changing build properties to post as mobile, virtually hiding the HDMI adapter, etc." According to him, the DRM (Digital Rights Management) of the Sky Go application checks the ROM of the device to see if it is allowed.

Unfortunately, there's no way to trick the app into thinking the FireStick is anything else.

How to Install Sky Go Addon for Kodi

By far the best way to watch Sky TV on Amazon FireStick or Fire TV is to use the Sky Go Kodi addon.

Unlike many add-ons, the Sky Go add-on works on Kodi 18 Leia and Kodi 19 Matrix. Installation is identical, but in this tutorial I will show you how to install it on a clean install of Kodi 19 Matrix.

It doesn't matter if you have other addons installed in your Kodi setup. However, I prefer to use a clean install of Kodi for my tutorials as it is easier to follow.

This means that I have not installed any other plugins on this device or configured my library. Even if Sky Go is the only thing you want to installyour kodi box, so you can be up and running in minutes.

Step 1 - Enable plugins from unknown sources

When you first install Kodi on your device, the only repository you get is the official Kodi repository. In it you'll find hundreds of different plugins to change the look, add new video sources and backgrounds and some really useful utilities.

Sadly though, it lacks many of the more popular plugins.

To install something that is not in the official Kodi repository, you need to enable addons from unknown sources.

First go tosettings menu. You can find it by clicking on the gear icon at the top of the left menu.

I am alsoConfiguration/SystemMenu, scroll down toadditionsSection.

As soon as you click onunknown sourcesToggle switch, a menu box appears.

When you install a Kodi add-on, it inherits the same rights as Kodi itself, including access to your device's files and network connections.

To be on the safe side, you should never install an add-on you don't trust, even if it doesn't store any personal information on your Kodi box.

Click Yes to continue.

Once you've done that, the toggle button will turn white and you're ready to install the Sky Go Kodi addon.

Step 2: Add the SlyGuy repo file source

Our first step is to create a custom file location for the SlyGuy repository, where we'll find the Sky Go plugin, plus dozens of other great plugins.

First go toConfiguration/Systemmenu and clickfile managerSymbol.

In most cases, we tell Kodi where to find files and media libraries in the file manager screen. In this case, we provide the web address of a repository.

click inadd a fontContinue.

stand out<None>and click on it to add a custom font.

Here we can enter a folder location on your Kodi device or a location on your local network. The location can be a specific file path or a URL to the new font.

In this case, we'll use the web address of the SlyGuy site where she hosts her repository.

Enter the following URL and click OK:

httpssss://k.slyguy.xyz

Then scroll down to the next box whereEnter a name for this media source.

Click anywhere in this field to continue.

You can enter any name, but I like to name my file sources meaningfully. That way I can easily spot them later. In this case, I will name itCielo.

After entering a name, clickOKContinue.

Once you have the URL location and font name, clickOKto complete this stage.

Kodi will run a quick check to see if it can access that URL.

If all goes well, return to the file manager screen and your new custom file source will appear in the list on the left.

Step 3: Install the SlyGuy repository from a ZIP file

Now that we've told Kodi where the SlyGuy repository file is located, we can go ahead and install it.

Go back to the system menu andClick on the Plugins icon.

then clickInstall from ZIP file.

When you manually install a plugin from a zip file, they usually don't update automatically. If you receive a pop-up like the one below, remember that you may need to regularly check that this plug-in is up to date.

click yesto close this pop-up window.

In the next window, you will see a window that shows all the default Kodi file locations as well as the locations of any custom file locations you have set up on that particular device.

For example, if you have a network file share, it will appear here.

Scroll down until you see the font name you entered in the previous section. If you have not given another name, you must search for it.Cielo.

Click on it to continue.

Then click on the repository.slyguy zip file.

Don't worry if the version number is slightly different than shown below. Kodi will automatically pull the latest version of your website for you.

Kodi will take you back to the main addons menu.

After a few seconds you will get a message box informing you that theThe Slyguy repository plugin has been installed.

Step 4 - Install the Sky Go plugin from the repository

Now that we've installed the repository, we can install the Sky Go plugin.

Cliqueinstall from repositoryContinue.

As I install the Sky Go addon on a clean install of Kodi 19, the only repositories I have on this device are the official Kodi repository and the Slyguy repository we just installed.

click on itSlyguy-RepositoryNameContinue.

Kodi divides add-ons into subcategories for easy navigation.

SkyGo is avideo addition, then find it in this section.

Click on it to continue.

Scroll down until you seego to heavenand click on it to continue.

This opens the plugin details page. If you've installed an app from the Google Play Store, it will look very familiar.

Here you can see details such as the different plugin versions available, as well as the dependencies that are installed along with the plugin.

After a few seconds, you will see a pop-up message that saysPlug-in do Sky Go instalado.

That is all!

To launch Sky Go, go to the Add-ons tab in the left menu and click on the appropriate icon.

While setting up Sky Go with a FireStick is one thing, some additional questions often come up when people consider subscribing to this app.

Is SkyGo free?

Although Sky Go is technically a free app, you can only create an account if you have a Sky TV subscription. However, if you want to start using this TV service, take the time to think about your differences.Abo-Pakete:

While these are some of the best known and most popular packages, Sky's full list of subscriptions is tiered to suit everyone's needs. There are options, including those built for families, movie buffs and BT sports fans. Also remember that these prices may change due to promotions or offers.

How much does SkyGo cost?

As Sky Go is free with a Sky TV subscription, each tier may cost you different amounts. Packages range from £25 a month to £65 a month and have different setup fees. Pricing may change if your package includes additional channels, add-ons or internet services.

Can you subscribe to Sky Go without Sky?

No. Even for signature plugins likeheaven goes extra, you still need to subscribe to Sky TV.

What is SkyGo Extra?

Sky Go Extra is a perfect add-on for those with multiple people on their plan. With it, you can download your favorite shows and movies to watch offline.up to four devices. Although Sky Go allows you to register multiple devices, only one person can actively stream at a time. Sky Go Extra alleviates these headaches.

If you're already a Sky Multiscreen subscriber, you get this for free; otherwise this costs an additional £5 per month.
