How can I use Chromecast with Google TV on a Samsung Smart TV?

If you're looking for a way to watch your favorite shows and movies on your Samsung Smart TV, you might be wondering if Chromecast is an option.

The good news is that you can use the add-on version of Chromecast, which I think is what most people think of when they think of Chromecast. However, Google has two different versions of plugins:

  1. Chromecast
  2. Chromecast s Google TV om

This section is a guide to the newer Chromecast with Google TV. The video at the end of this article shows you how to set up the second type; Google Chromecast (3rd generation).

Okay, so how can I use Chromecast with Google TV on Samsung Smart TV?

To use Chromecast with a Samsung Smart TV, you'll need to purchase an external Chromecast, power the Chromecast, and plug it into the TV's HDMI port. Select the HDMI input on the TV and follow the onscreen instructions to set up Chromecast.

Now we take a closer look at all your questions about using Chromecast with Samsung Smart TV. We cover everything related to setting up your Chromecast. So read on to find out everything you need to know!

Plug in your Chromecast and turn it on

The first step in setting up your Chromecast is connecting it to a power supply and an HDMI port. Chromecast with Google TV comes with everything you need!

For power, connect the USB cable to the Chromecast and the other end to the power adapter. Plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet.

Make sure the USB side is fully connected to your Chromecast. Some people mistakenly believe that Chromecast does not need to be connected to a power source to work. They think the power comes from the HDMI port, but it isn't.

Now is also a good time to put batteries in the remote that came with your Chromecast with Google TV.

To connect to Samsung Smart TV, Chromecast with Google TV is an HDMI dongle, i.e. it connects directly to your TV's HDMI port.

Find the HDMI port on the TV and connect the Chromecast to it.

I recommend connecting Chromecast to HDMI-ARCport if you have one on your TV. This gives you the option to turn the TV on and off and to control certain functions of the TV (for example, the volume) with the Chromecast and its remote control.

In other words, you only need one Chromecast remote and your TV!

Next, make sure your TV is turned on and you're using the correct source input. If not, just press Enter on your remote until you come across the correct HDMI port and Chromecast setup instructions will be displayed.

Prepare your Samsung TV

Turn on the TV and switch the input to the HDMI input your Chromecast is connected to. Also wait for the remote to pair.

In most situations, the remote control pairs automatically. However, if the TV screen says "Start pairing", press and hold the back and home buttons on the remote until the LED on the remote starts flashing.

After the remote has been paired, select the desired language.

Download the Google Home app and complete the setup

Now is the time to grab your smartphone or tablet. If you don't have your phone handy, Voice Remote is an option to set up Chromecast. Instead, select "Set up on TV" and follow the instructions there. This guide assumes you have a smartphone.

Download the Google Home app to your smart device. This can be found in the Google Play StoreHere. Of in de Apple App StoreHere.

You don't have to use this oneGoogle homeapp every time you use Chromecast, but it makes the initial setup much easier.

You need a Google account to use this home app. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an account or log in.

Before proceeding with setup, connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network you want your Chromecast to connect to!

From the Google Home app home screen, follow these steps to add your new Chromecast:

  1. Select the "+" button in the top left corner.
  2. Tap "Set up device".
  3. Tap "New Device".
  4. Tap on your current home or select "Create new home".

The Google Home app will automatically start searching for your Chromecast.

Once the Chromecast is detected, the device name will appear on your phone's screen. Make sure it matches the device name displayed in the top left corner of the TV.

Click Next and scan the QR code on the TV screen.

The Chromecast will then connect and you will need to accept the legal terms before you can complete the setup.

Select the room where your Chromecast is located and click Next.

At this point, your Chromecast should be ready to go, but there are a few more screens you can click to choose your preferences, set up your voice assistant, and set up your apps.

Set up a Chromecast remote to control your TV

This step is optional, but who wouldn't want one less remote?

After installing all your apps from the previous setup step, Chromecast will ask you if you want to set up a remote.

It can automatically detect what type of TV you have. However, if it doesn't happen, you have to go through a few more questions. You can also set up a remote control to control the volume of your soundbar or receiver.

Finally done!

Now you should be good to go. You can use your voice remote to control your TV, soundbar, or receiver if you have one.

How can I cast to my Samsung Smart TV without Google Chromecast?

Chromecast offers a lot of features beyond simple screen sharing to watch on your TV. But what if that's all you want to do? How do I switch the screen to Samsung Smart TV?

To cast or share your screen with a Samsung Smart TV, both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network. For Samsung Smart TVs made after 2016, the Samsung Smart View app can be used to cast your screen to the TV.

The two most popular alternatives to using the Smart View app are Apple Airplay andSamsung SmartThings.

Samsung has dedicated a whole page to the different methods, where you can find step-by-step instructionsHere.

Anyway, I still recommend getting a Chromecast. The screen sharing feature is built into many streaming apps like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, etc. Google Photos also has a built-in Chromecast screen sharing feature to easily share photos and videos.

Diploma

As you can see, setting up Chromecast is easy. With just a few minutes of your time and following the tips listed here, your TV will take on a whole new life. I use my Chromecast all the time and would highly recommend getting one.
