The consumer electronics category had the highest percentage of first-time buyers (89%). This industry also had the lowest percentage of repeat customers.
The proportion of second, third, and fourth buyers was similar across all sectors, at approximately 15%, 9%, and 5%, respectively.

On Black Friday, electronics in particular had the highest percentage of sold out products: 41%. That was 33% more than the second hardest hit industry, housewares, which had 8% sold out.
The huge increase in out-of-stocks in consumer electronics is likely due to shortages in raw materials and microchips. Additionally, most engineering products are manufactured in Asia, where there are still pandemic-related issues affecting the workforce.
